TL;DR: The Blue Tees Player+ ($199) is a GPS speaker that gives you yardages while playing music. Sound quality is legit, GPS is accurate, battery lasts 10+ hours, and the magnetic mount is clutch. Also works as the best vacation speaker ever.

Look, I know what you're thinking. "Jason, you shoot 100 on a good day. Why do you need a GPS speaker telling you it's 157 yards to the green when you're going to chunk it 40 yards anyway?"
Fair point. But hear me out.
The Blue Tees Player+ has become my favorite golf accessory, and not just because it makes me feel like I know what I'm doing out there. This little speaker has earned a permanent spot in my golf bag - and apparently my vacation luggage too.
What Is It?
The Player+ is a Bluetooth speaker with built-in GPS that shows you distances to the front, middle, and back of the green, plus hazards. It runs about $199 and comes with a year of free GPS access (after that it's $49/year for the premium features).
But honestly? I bought it for the tunes. The GPS stuff was a bonus.
The Sound Is Actually Really Good
I was skeptical. Golf speakers usually sound like you're listening to music through a tin can wrapped in a towel. But the Player+ actually sounds great - loud enough to hear over the cart, clear enough that my playing partners have started requesting songs.
The 360-degree audio means it doesn't matter which direction you're standing, which is perfect because I spend a lot of time on the wrong side of the fairway.
The GPS Distance Feature
Okay, fine, let's talk about the GPS. The touchscreen shows you yardage to the green and it's surprisingly accurate. I've compared it to my Arccos data and rangefinder, and it's usually within a yard or two.
Does knowing the exact distance help my game? Debatable. But there's something satisfying about standing over a shot and thinking "147 to the middle" instead of "somewhere between here and that tree, I think?"
The app syncs with the speaker and tracks your rounds, shows hazard distances, and even measures your drives. My longest drive this season was 267 yards. I'm choosing to believe the GPS over the 240 my playing partner estimated.
The Magnetic Mount Is Genius
The Player+ has a strong magnetic base that sticks to your golf cart. Like, really sticks. I've hit some questionable terrain on course shortcuts (we've all done it) and this thing hasn't budged.
But here's where it gets interesting: that same magnetic design makes it perfect for travel. Last spring break, I threw it in my carry-on for a trip to the Bahamas. No golf planned - just beach and pool time.
That speaker spent a week stuck to the metal frame of a poolside lounge chair, pumping out Jimmy Buffett while I worked on my tan and pretended I wasn't thinking about my swing. IPX7 waterproof rating meant I didn't panic when someone's kid cannonballed a little too close.
Best $199 pool speaker I've ever owned that also happens to tell me I'm 183 yards from making a double bogey.
Battery Life
10+ hours with GPS and music running. I've never run out of battery mid-round, and I play slow. Really slow. There's also a USB-C port so you can charge your phone if needed, which has saved me more than once when I forgot to charge before an early tee time.
The Bottom Line
Is the Blue Tees Player+ going to fix your slice? No. Is it going to help you break 90? Probably not directly.
But it's going to make your round more enjoyable, give you useful distance info, and apparently double as the best vacation speaker you'll ever own. For $199, you're getting a quality Bluetooth speaker AND a GPS device - either one alone could cost that much.
If you're a high handicapper like me who enjoys the vibes of a round as much as the actual golf, this thing is a no-brainer. I've recommended it to half my foursome and now we've got a synchronized playlist situation going.
Just maybe leave it at home if you're playing a serious tournament. Or don't. I'm not your dad.
